1. Programming & Graphic Interface
File Management
- WebSite X5 automatically copies the files linked to a project. By using copies, you avoid problems of deleted or moved files, you can extract resource files from the project and backup and import/export operations are faster.
Built-in Browser
- The built-in browser, that displays local previews, uses the Chromium engine in place of Internet Explorer, which is installed on the PC, and it supports multi-threading.
Visual Controls
- Work is even quicker and easier, thanks to the new visual controls for choosing files, fonts and set-tings.
Graphic Libraries
- The graphic libraries we have added offer numerous resources for creating buttons, icons, flags, etc.

Mobile Template Pack
- All the templates are well supported by mobile devices. There are new templates in the Mobile Templates Pack that have been designed specifically for websites created for smartphones and tablets.
Height Alignment
- You now have more freedom and precision in creating a Custom Template, thanks to the greater freedom in aligning the site (with respect to the Browser window) and the navigation menu (with respect to the contents), as well as the minimum height of the contents and footer background.

Page Layout Table
- Inserting rows/columns in the page layout table has been made easier because now you can specify if they are to be added before or after the selected row/column.
Touch Compatibility for Images
- Both movement and zoom effects, and image protection, are now handled in JavaScript, instead of Flash. This ensures greater compatibility on mobile devices and fully supports Touch technology.
Galleries in HTML5
- All the Image galleries now use HTML5, instead of Flash technology. New effects are now available, and Touch navigation is supported on mobile devices.
Social Network Object
- Buttons and boxes for the apps of all the major Social Networks (Facebook, Google , Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) can easily be included with the new Social Network Object. It's the best way to share content and increase a website's popularity.

- Anchors can be associated with Objects in the page layout table, and given a name. The Anchors are also useful for creating links to contents in the pages.
Mouseover on Images
- Added effects on mouseover have been added to give greater emphasis to the Images: enlargement, movement, overlaid image rotation.
E-mail Form Properties
- If e-mails are very long, they can be divided into sections, using separators. Added styles for labels, fields and buttons.
Guestbook Object
- The Guestbook has been enhanced with new features and has become an Object. Comment and vote management is available and the Captcha protection is now more efficient.

- Added graphic options make cell design more sophisticated: beveled corners, shadows, alignment, a background that adapts to the actual cell size, etc...

v9.0 [Feb 25, 2010]
STEP 1
General settings
In Version 9 we have given a lot of attention to the graphic aspect of the site. All the templates included with the program have been reviewed and updated. The result of our restyling is a completely new gallery with 1,500 different templates.
The custom template feature has also been greatly enhanced: it's now easier to obtain the precision you want when designing your layout, and you can check your work as you go in the preview. We have also included an option for resizing the background according to the size of the browser window, so that you can create full-screen websites.
STEP 2
Map creation
The Map tree, which is the heart of your project, has been redesigned, while maintaining the same working logic as before.
Previous limits to the number of levels have been removed, and projects can now have much more pages.
Separators have been included and Special Pages (referring to the welcome page, blog, members' area and shopping cart) are displayed. Associating locked pages with users/groups has been simplified.
New options for the Page properties and levels greatly improve the possibilities of customizing page graphics and code: you can now associate a different site background with each single page.
STEP 3
Page creation
The starting point for creating pages remains the Page Layout Table, but now you can add up to 64 rows and 16 columns. Improvements have also been made to how you select and move objects.
The Cell Format window has many interesting new features, including automatic adaptation of background images to cell size, improved margin and border management and a brand new Styles library.
All the Objects available for adding page content have been revised.
The Gallery Object has undergone the most changes. You now have a wide choice of both Flash and JavaScript galleries in which both images and videos can be mixed.
Images can now be protected from unauthorized copying, and a built-in Media Player for FLV and MP4 formats has been included for videos. You can even reproduce videos directly from YouTube.
The E-mail form Object has also been enhanced: new field types have been added, data-collection databases have been integrated, and you now have greater control over the layout and design of e-mails.
STEP 4
Advanced settings
The main menu is automatically created and updated on the basis of the site map and it is completely open to graphic customization. Dropdown menus may have several columns or a single column with accordion display. You can now associate icons with menu items and add separators, thus making the menus even more functional and user-friendly, with a refined look.
Improvements have been made to the Styles and Models section: it now includes all the necessary options for defining the styles of text, the ShowBox (where zoomed images/videos in SlideShows and Galleries are displayed), ToolTips associated with links and e-mails generated by the E-mail form object and Shopping Cart.
Continuing in our objective of offering maximum flexibility in website creation, advertising messages can be displayed not only in the top right corner (PagePeel) but now they can also be placed at the top, in the middle or at the bottom of the page.
STEP 5
Export
When you have completed your website and are ready to publish it on the Internet, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that the built-in FTP engine in Version 9 has been completely redesigned.
First of all, the FTP engine now supports secure connections for transferring data and, by working in multi-connection, it can improve publication time 5/10-fold, with respect to the previous Version 8. You can save even more time by publishing only the files that have been changed. Furthermore, gzip compression is now available.
CODE & FILE GENERATION
WebSite X5 doesn't require any specific programming skills and, in compliance with the latest web developments and the support offered by Browsers, it automatically generates the page code in HTML5 + CSS 2.1/3.
All the files that are created during Page code generation are encoded in UTF8, guaranteeing full support for all languages.
In addition to these important improvements to code generation, Version 9 also includes a new project and file management system that offers full multi-threading support: this technology significantly improves system performance, especially when working on multi-core processors.
SEO & SEARCH ENGINES
We have placed great importance on generating page code according to Best Practices, thus ensuring adherence to standards, full compatibility with all browsers and complete search engine indexing.
Website optimization has been improved, giving you greater control over important parameters such as titles, description and alternative texts, which are used by the search engines to index a website. The enhanced SiteMap now includes information on images and videos, and this information can be broadcast when the site is published online.
